When we first moved to Florida, I found this DVD cabinet on Craigslist. It was in great condition (no cracks or dings) and I only paid $10 for it. We used it in our guest room at our rental, and when we bought our home last August, I put it in our laundry room/mud room.
Of course, since I wanted to have a blue and yellow theme, this color had to change. Along came Mr. Rustoleum, my new BFF, wearing the color aqua.
This original cabinet had three openings for 5x7 photos. The original owners had placed some fabric in the frames, but I wanted to add some personal pictures.
Since we were using it for a shoe cabinet, I chose to take photos of my kids feet. I wanted one of each of their feet, and then one of their feet together. Well, that didn't happen..... I have two very active children, and my boy loves to go barefoot. Rather than torture them for these photos, I chose to just capture the pictures as I could, as natural as possible. I got one photo (top) of my daughter seated on the brick steps and one of my son (middle) barefoot as usual. But, since I couldn't get them to stick their feet together, I took the bottom photo of my husband's feet. I like how they all have a brick background and coordinate well.
This size cabinet is perfect for kids shoes. And no, my kids do not always put their shoes in this cabinet... they often have to be told many times, but they are young and learning.
It's crazy to think that the black pair of shoes my daughter is wearing in the photo above are now to small! They grow so fast....
Nonetheless, this DVD cabinet is perfect for shoes and I just love how it's so slim and fits perfectly in this space.... not to mention it's straight in front of the door that enters from the garage!
clever transformation!
