Twine Wrapped Bottles
Between our formal living area and our kitchen/family room is an open pass-thru window. I really struggled with how to decorate this area, and even created a pinboard specific for this space.
After much research, I finally decided to go ultra-frugal and collect glass bottles for this space. I wanted a variety of shapes and heights, so I used all different types of bottles.... wine bottles, olive oil bottles, vinegar bottles, liquor bottles. I asked everyone I knew to save bottles for me.
After I collected a good number, I purchased several rolls of twine from Home Depot. Rubber cement was applied to the top of the bottle to hold the twine in place, and then I just started wrapping. I would apply rubber cement to areas that were more curved, or when the twine would slip away. I kept pushing the twine back together to make it tight- didn't want any of the glass poking through!
My wrapping isn't perfect, and there were a few times I had to backtrack to make sure everything was covered. However, I'm convinced this was the perfect project for this space! I've thought that I could add flowers (real or artificial) to the bottles as I choose, or I could stick a taper candle into the tops of the bottles for some soft lighting.
I've played with a couple of arrangements, too.
Clustered together....
Or all spread out.
What do you prefer?
What other ideas do you have for dressing up the bottles as seasons change and holidays pass?
