Become A Sewing Bookworm

I could have titled this post, "My Christmas Wishlist."  I have fallen in love with sewing books.  There's just something about holding a book that contains countless patterns or instructions for new sewing skills.  It gets me all excited- ready to tackle something new or pull an all-nighter on a new pattern.

So, here's a list of great sewing books.  If you have a sewing friend, choose any one of these books and you will have an instant (and easy!) Christmas gift marked off your list.

One Yard Wonders - I own this book and LOVE it!  It's chocked full of simple projects that take one yard or less (obviously, by the title!).  It's a great book to own.

The Complete Photo Guide to Sewing- I would love to have this book!  It's got so many different sewing techniques outlined by full color photos- it's like having your very own sewing teacher right beside you.

Sew & Stow - this books looks so fun!  It's dedicated to sewing organization baskets, totes and boxes.  Combine organization and sewing and I'm on cloud nine.  :)

Amy Butler's In Stitches- need I say more?  Amy Butler's fabrics are not only gorgeous, but her patterns are outstanding.  Any book by Amy is sure to be a hit.

Fabric by Fabric One-Yard Wonders - I don't own this book, but if it's as good as the original One Yard Wonders, I'm in luck.
Sewing Bits and Pieces - this is one of my favorite books.  It has a great variety of stash-busting ideas, and some repurposing ideas as well.
Martha Stewart's Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts- this is another book I'd LOVE to own.  Martha's instructions and photos are always very accurate and detailed.

Sewing in a Straight Line- I don't own this book, but have heard great things about it.  Sewing straight is one of the first and most basic sewing skills, so it would be great for any beginner.

Sewing with Oilcloth- another book I've heard great things about, but do not (yet) own.  Oilcloth has always intrigued me, and I have ironed on vinyl to cotton fabric before.  It was a semi-success, so I'm sure I could learn a lot from this book.
Amy Butler's Style Stitches- again, the name Amy Butler pretty much says it all, but this book is very high on my wish list.  Amy's bags are amazing!!!!

Bend the Rules Sewing- another book that has come highly recommended, but I have yet to own.  This books is famous for helping you sew things that are out of the ordinary.

Well, I could go on forever with my wish list, but this post is already quite lengthy!  Please follow my Sewing Books Pinboard on Pinterest if you want to keep up with my latest recommendations and wishes.
